You all know I love a bit of industrial heritage so I was thrilled when some of you asked if we could go back to Swaledale in 2017. It holds a special place in my heart as it was the venue for the first ever Wild Rambling holiday in 2012!
We will be walking in a stunning landscape peppered with fascinating industrial archaeology, iconic Swaledale sheep and Dales drystone walls and barns. We’ll be walking on the moors and in the valleys, mostly on well worn paths and tracks. There’ll be three full day walks of approx. 8 miles and a shorter walk on the last day.
We will be very well looked after by Matt and his team at Keld Lodge, where we will be fully catered over the four days. There are nine ensuite double or twin rooms which will be £545 for single occupancy. Also available are one single ensuite room and a single and double with their own private bathrooms (but not ensuite) which will be £465 (and it's also the same cost each to share a room).
STOP PRESS: Just two ensuite rooms remaining!
Here are some of the lovely comments from a previous group of what they enjoyed most about the holiday:
"The scenery and walks were stunning. It was my first time in Swaledale and the holiday was very good in all aspects. A very satisfied walker!!!"
"To be honest, I enjoyed it all. The range of weather, the rainbow, the autumn colours, the group, the accommodation and, crucially of course the guide - all contributed to what was a very enjoyable long weekend."
"The walks, the merry banter and socialising with group members, seeing different places, visiting tearooms, different terrains and landscapes, informative guide."
"The scenery, the industrial archaeology, the companionship, the canyoning! Oh, and the hotel, the hosts and the food. Loved the historical and geological input."
"It was all excellent. Everything was perfect even the rain. If you fancy walking in the Yorkshire Dales do it with Wild Rambling and I promise you will not be disappointed."
